The problem though is you lose your free skills and this player will just mostly play punching bag. Then the last side part is that if there is no thrower you can get an extra lineman which some say that the lineman is better for having armor 9 over the thrower and can be used on the line of scrimmage. Also, the last problem with them as ball carriers is that you don’t have the pass action as safe and this is important because this is a hard thing to do with agility 3 already mind you without a reroll it’s hard to do. So, if you make a blitzer a ball carrier you are just losing the potential of them as sackers and forcing them in the ball carrier roll which when on a defensive drive will mean you might have less offensive skill to get the ball back. Along with this these people are responsible for specialty tasks such as killing other players, giving assists for others to get a hit in, moving people to the sidelines and pushing them off the field, then lastly just driving up the pitch. The one skill they start with is block, so you might think he is literally better with his speed and armor why not use him to carry? The answer is simple while moving down the field with your 4 blitzers they should be taking out threats instead of holding because you will be losing an offensive piece to be trying to avoid any contact when they should be punching things in the face. Now to talk a little about the blitzers is that they have movement 6 strength 3 agility 3 and 9 armor. Another reason he is nice is just that he can get a couple of doubles levels and be great with the first being dodge to make him great at staying on his feet and moving down field, the next would be sidestep after dodge to make him move to any square after being blocked and this can move him to a more favorable position most of the time and is great for messing with players with frenzy as they will make a second block after and push and follow into a bunch of your players after and getting ready to be hit. Then the thrower can get pass to make his bad chances at throwing decent. The thrower on a normal which is not meeting those conditions is allowed to get a skill in the general or the passing category and can get leader to give your team a cheap reroll from one player as long as he is fielded. Then one nice part about him is his access to passing when leveling up via rolling 2 dice and then if doubles allowed to pick whatever skill, if it’s a total of ten you may choose movement or armor and if total of 11 you may select a point of agility and on 12 you may get a point of strength. Though for the most part is this guy is meant for holding the ball and slogging down field. He starts with sure hands which will let you automatically reroll a pickup attempt for free his other skill is pass which rerolls pass attempts with him. Then the question what makes him worthwhile to take then and the answer is his free skills. When playing orcs you will see that the thrower has a stat line of 5 movement 3 strength 3 agility and 8 armor and his stats are the worst in the team because of his 8 armor. This unit has been disputed about since the release of the game for good reasons But I believe that it is necessary to an orc team, for the reasons of having starting skills great for handling, keeping your blitzers doing their job. They have one unit that sparks controversy, and that is their thrower. In Blood bowl there is an Orc team able to be played.
